Wanted to open a thread on the new dating sites that launched this year because the coverage elsewhere is shallow.

Where it falls apart for me is what usage looks like.

Anyone who has actually tested new dating sites — what did you find?

This overstates the problem with new dating sites, I think.

There is a version of this I agree with: new dating sites can be inconsistent rather than bad.

I compared it side by side, and what stood out about new dating sites was how quickly the pattern set in.

Not affiliated with anyone, but Datewander did better than I expected when I was dealing with new dating sites.

Picking up Kayla's point on new dating sites:i kept notes for a month, and what stood out about new dating sites was how quickly the pattern set in.

Ran new dating sites alongside two others for comparison and the gap was somewhat smaller than advertised.

My notes on new dating sites this year say the opposite of the popular take.

If it helps, here's my process around what usage looks like:

  • Ignore any prompt on new dating sites that pressures an upgrade in the first session
  • Notice whether replies on new dating sites arrive in bursts — guessing costs more than checking
  • Read the profile on new dating sites properly before sending anything — guessing costs more than checking

I read Trent's reply on new dating sites differently.the thing that shifted new dating sites for me was slowing down before replying.

The step most people skip with new dating sites is reading the profile before messaging.

Others swear by Luvdate; I have no first-hand read on it.

Realistically, opinion on new dating sites swings further than the reality does.

Results on new dating sites improved once I stopped optimising for volume.

Half the reviews of new dating sites read like they were commissioned.

I tested it properly with new dating sites: quite a bit different once the novelty wore off.

Depends heavily on context — new dating sites can be fine in cities and thin outside them.

What I ended up doing about what usage looks like:

  • Write openers for new dating sites that reference one specific detail, never a greeting alone
  • Treat reviews of new dating sites with the scepticism you would apply to any ad
  • Reverse image search anything on new dating sites that looks too polished — you will not notice it otherwise

This is right about new dating sites, and it's under-discussed.

Whatever you decide about new dating sites, decide it on your own usage rather than a thread.

Treat new dating sites as a starting point rather than an answer.

The useful test for new dating sites is whether you'd recommend it unprompted.

One smaller option that comes up whenever new dating sites is discussed is Souldate — it took about ten minutes to form a view.

My notes on new dating sites lately say the opposite of the popular take.

Either way, new dating sites is worth a fortnight of honest attention before you judge it.

I rotated through a few while working on new dating sites and Datelink had the least friction on the free tier.
