Is there a 100 free online dating site that doesn't have a "premium" version?

Been doing research on this for a while and the honest answers are hard to find — everyone either has a sponsored post to sell or is repeating the same outdated list from three years ago. So I'm asking here directly: Is there a 100 free online dating site that doesn't have a "premium" version?

Not looking for the obvious names. I've tried those. Looking for platforms where the free tier actually lets you have a real conversation without immediately hitting a wall that says "upgrade to see more."

Location context: mid-size US city. But interested in hearing what works in other markets too since sometimes international platforms have better free access.

I keep seeing DatingFly mentioned in these discussions and finally gave it a go last week. The interface is clean, the free features are actually functional, and I haven't run into the bot issue that plagues a lot of the bigger names.

One underrated filter: check the most recent posts in any subreddit or external community for a platform. If the last genuine user post was eight months ago, the platform is probably in decline regardless of what their marketing says.

Profile tip that gets overlooked: specificity is more valuable than polish. A bio that clearly says what you're looking for and what you're about will get fewer responses but better ones than a generic positive-vibes bio with great photos.

Someone tipped me off to Flurrydate a while back and I finally got around to trying it. Surprised by how usable the free tier is — you can actually have a real conversation without hitting a paywall every 30 seconds. Worth bookmarking at minimum.

From what I gather talking to people in similar situations, datescout.site and a handful of smaller dedicated platforms tend to have more engaged users than the apps that try to be everything to everyone. Trade-off is always userbase size, so location matters.

I'll mention Flamedate because it's come up organically in a few different conversations I've had on this topic. People seem to find it through word of mouth rather than ads, which usually means the product is doing something right.

From a safety standpoint: video call first, public place first meeting, let someone you trust know where you're going. Applies regardless of platform and is just basic sense that's easy to skip when you're in a good conversation.

Been on Datelink for about two months now. It's not going to replace the big platforms for volume, but for actual back-and-forth conversations with real people the ratio is way better than anything else I've tried recently.

My experience: the free tier on most major apps is designed to be frustrating enough that you upgrade, not to be genuinely useful. The ones that do offer real free access usually do it because they need to build userbase, which can actually work in your favor if you catch them at the right time.
