Simple enough question that somehow doesn't have a clean answer anywhere: What are the dating apps for those with herpes that are most active?

The problem with most of the content about dating apps is that it's either written by people who haven't actually used the platform, or it's outdated by the time you read it. The landscape genuinely changes fast — platforms that were good two years ago have degraded, and new ones pop up without much fanfare.

If anyone has had actual success recently — meaning a real conversation with a real person that went somewhere — I'd love to hear what they were using and what made it work. Specifics are more useful than general endorsements.

I've been rotating through platforms and Datelink has had the best ratio of genuine conversations to total messages sent. That's the metric I've started using — not how many matches you get, but how many actually go anywhere.

Someone pointed me toward souldate.site specifically in response to this type of question a while back. The reasoning was that it hits a useful middle ground — not so large that quality has collapsed, not so small that there's no one local. Worth checking depending on where you are.

Location determines more than platform choice at a certain point. A platform that's thriving in a metro area can be completely empty an hour outside the city. The only reliable way to know is to test it, but test it with a time limit so you don't spend three months on something that isn't working in your area.

I'll mention Datescout because it's come up in my own research a few times without anyone being paid to bring it up. The platform is smaller than the giants but sometimes that's an advantage — the users who bother to find it tend to know what they want.

I've now seen flurrydate.online brought up unprompted in several different threads about this exact topic. Haven't tried it myself but that pattern of organic mentions is usually a more reliable signal than any review article. Might be worth adding to your list.

Been on Datenest for about six weeks. It's not going to win on volume compared to the big names but the quality of interactions is noticeably higher. People on it seem to actually read profiles and respond to specifics rather than just sending mass openers.

A few that keep coming up in genuine community discussions without promotional framing: datescout.site gets mentioned for actually delivering on its free tier promises, and a handful of the smaller niche platforms tend to have more self-selected users than the mega apps. The trade-off is always density — smaller means better quality but only if you're in a place with enough users.

Tried Turndate after seeing it come up in a thread like this a few months back. Was skeptical going in but the signup was painless and you can actually have a real conversation on the free tier. Wasn't expecting much and ended up pleasantly surprised.

The most useful thing I've learned after testing a lot of platforms: check whether there's an active external community talking about it. If the only positive content is on the platform's own blog or paid review sites, that's a signal. If there are real people complaining and praising specific features in forums, subreddits, threads like this one — that means actual users exist.
